ETFs have grown tremendously over the years and are becoming a\u00a0<strong>favourite for investors<\/strong>. An ETF is\u00a0<strong>affordable<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>easy to manage<\/strong>, and allows you to dip your hands into any\u00a0<strong>different assets<\/strong>\u00a0at once.\u00a0<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><h2><b>What is an ETF?<\/b><\/h2><p>According to\u00a0<em>Bursa Malaysia<\/em>, an ETF is \u201can open-ended investment fund listed and traded on a stock exchange. ETF combines the features of\u00a0<strong>an index fund and a stock<\/strong>. It grants investors a\u00a0<strong>diversified portfolio<\/strong>\u00a0without needing a huge capital. Here are the\u00a0<strong>common ETFs<\/strong>\u00a0you\u2019ll see on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bursamalaysia.com\/trade\/our_products_services\/equities\/exchange_traded_funds\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Bursa Malaysia<\/em><\/a>\u00a0and international stock markets: \u2013<\/p><h3>Equity<\/h3><p>These ETFs\u00a0<strong>invest in stocks<\/strong>. They vary by region (e.g. only local stocks) or industry (only tech stocks).<\/p><h3>Fixed income<\/h3><p>They invest in\u00a0<strong>fixed income securities<\/strong>, meaning low-risk investments like bonds or sukuk.<\/p><h3>Leveraged<\/h3><p>Leveraged ETFS use\u00a0<strong>debt to increase your returns<\/strong>. For example, a two-times leveraged ETF allows you to make, or lose, twice the money for every price movement on the index.<\/p><h3>Inverse<\/h3><p>You\u00a0<strong>gain returns when the index loses value<\/strong>.
