Alternatively, you can\u00a0file a dispute\u00a0with your credit bureau agency.<\/p><h3><strong>Myth 2: <\/strong>There are negative impacts from checking your credit score.<\/h3><p><strong>Truth:<\/strong>\u00a0There are\u00a0absolutely no consequences\u00a0to checking your credit, in fact, we\u00a0encourage regularly monitoring your credit score. It is always healthy to be on top of your finances, especially when you\u2019re looking to apply for any loans or make a big purchase.<\/p><h3><strong>Myth 3:<\/strong> A good score does mean an automatic approval for credit applications.<\/h3><p><strong>Truth:<\/strong>\u00a0A good credit score helps a lot, but banks and other creditors\u00a0also look at other things\u00a0before approving or rejecting your application. For example, your level of income plays a major part in whether you qualify for a loan.<\/p><h3><strong>Myth 4:<\/strong> Cancelling credit cards helps build credit.<\/h3><p><strong>Truth:<\/strong>\u00a0The whole point of a credit score is to rate your usage of credit.
