Capital is the most important thing when it comes to setting up a business, no matter big or small.\u00a0<\/p><p>Fortunately, there are some\u00a0<strong>very helpful and accessible grants<\/strong>\u00a0available for\u00a0<em>aspiring entrepreneurs<\/em>. Your dream of\u00a0<strong>becoming the owner of an SME<\/strong>\u00a0is\u00a0<em>closer than you realise<\/em>, just look into some of these grants and see if you qualify.\u00a0<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><h2><b>Soft Loans for SMEs (SLSME)<\/b><\/h2><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mprc.gov.my\/finance\/soft-loan-scheme-for-small-medium-enterprises-slsme\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">SLSME<\/a>\u00a0allows access to\u00a0<strong>fund amounts between RM 50,000 to RM 5 million<\/strong>. Essentially, it\u00a0<strong>functions as a financial loan<\/strong>\u00a0for\u00a0<em>capital expenditure<\/em>\u00a0or\u00a0<em>working capital<\/em>, with an\u00a0<strong>interest rate of 4% per annum<\/strong>.<\/p><p>The maximum amount an SME can apply for from this programme is\u00a0<strong>RM 5 million<\/strong>.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><h2><b>Bumiputera Enterprise Enhancement Programme (BEEP)<\/b><\/h2><p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-2101\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ibpo.com.my\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/SME-Corp-Msia-300x179.png\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ibpo.com.my\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/SME-Corp-Msia-300x179.png 300w, https:\/\/www.ibpo.com.my\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/SME-Corp-Msia-244x146.png 244w, https:\/\/www.ibpo.com.my\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/SME-Corp-Msia-50x30.png 50w, https:\/\/www.ibpo.com.my\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/SME-Corp-Msia-125x75.png 125w, https:\/\/www.ibpo.com.my\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/SME-Corp-Msia.png 500w\" alt=\"SME Corp Malaysia Logo Giving SME Grants\" width=\"300\" height=\"179\" \/><\/p><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.smecorp.gov.my\/index.php\/en\/programmes1\/2015-12-21-10-03-39\/bumiputera-enterprise-enhancement-programme-beep\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>BEEP<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0is a specialised SME funding grant aiming\u00a0<strong>to develop strong Bumiputera SMEs<\/strong>. Their strategy is to strengthen the core business and capacity, in turn increasing productivity and offering solutions.<\/p><p><strong>BEEP<\/strong>\u00a0offers the following financing aid to\u00a0<strong>Bumiputera SMEs<\/strong>: \u2013<\/p><ol><li aria-level=\"1\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Training<\/li><li aria-level=\"1\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Packaging and labelling<\/li><li aria-level=\"1\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Certification and Quality Management System<\/li><li aria-level=\"1\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Innovation<\/li><li aria-level=\"1\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Advertising, Promotion and Branding<\/li><\/ol><p>SMEs that fall under this category can apply for the grant via\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.smecorp.gov.my\/index.php\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">SME Corporation Malaysia<\/a>.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>The\u00a0<strong>eligibility criteria<\/strong>\u00a0are as follows: \u2013<\/p><ul><li aria-level=\"1\">Business has to be\u00a0<strong>registered under SSM \/ Professional Bodies \/ Authorities or District Offices<\/strong>\u00a0in\u00a0<strong>Sabah<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Sarawak<\/strong>.<\/li><li aria-level=\"1\">Must<strong>\u00a0fulfill the definition of SME<\/strong>\u00a0in terms of\u00a0<strong>annual sales turnover<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>scope<\/strong>.<\/li><li aria-level=\"1\"><strong>60% of equity<\/strong>\u00a0must be\u00a0<strong>bumiputera-owned<\/strong>.<\/li><li aria-level=\"1\">Business must own a\u00a0<strong>valid business premise license<\/strong>.<\/li><li aria-level=\"1\">There must be\u00a0<strong>no conflict of interest with the supplier<\/strong>.<\/li><li aria-level=\"1\">Business must have begun operation for\u00a0<strong>at least 6 months<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/li><li aria-level=\"1\">Business must have a\u00a0<strong>SCORE \/ M-CORE assessment<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ul><p>\u00a0<\/p><h2><b>SME Emergency Funds (SMEEF)<\/b><\/h2><p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-2102\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ibpo.com.my\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/emergency-exit-sign-min-300x200.jpg\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ibpo.com.my\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/emergency-exit-sign-min-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.ibpo.com.my\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/emergency-exit-sign-min-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.ibpo.com.my\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/emergency-exit-sign-min-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.ibpo.com.my\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/emergency-exit-sign-min-1536x1025.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/www.ibpo.com.my\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/emergency-exit-sign-min-2048x1366.jpg 2048w, https:\/\/www.ibpo.com.my\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/emergency-exit-sign-min-219x146.jpg 219w, https:\/\/www.ibpo.com.my\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/emergency-exit-sign-min-50x33.jpg 50w, https:\/\/www.ibpo.com.my\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/emergency-exit-sign-min-112x75.jpg 112w, https:\/\/www.ibpo.com.my\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/emergency-exit-sign-min-942x628.jpg 942w, https:\/\/www.ibpo.com.my\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/emergency-exit-sign-min-750x500.jpg 750w, https:\/\/www.ibpo.com.my\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/emergency-exit-sign-min-1140x760.jpg 1140w\" alt=\"Emergency SME Grants\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/p><p><a href=\"https:\/\/mastic.mosti.gov.my\/sti-incentive\/sme-emergency-fund-smeef\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">SMEEF<\/a>\u00a0isn\u2019t really a grant, but\u00a0<strong>an emergency loan<\/strong>\u00a0to help\u00a0<strong>businesses affected by natural disasters<\/strong>. SME owners can\u00a0<strong>apply for a soft loan<\/strong>\u00a0if their business premise or equipment is damaged or destroyed in\u00a0<em>floods, storms, droughts, or landslides<\/em>.\u00a0<\/p><p>As a soft loan, the financing amount\u00a0<strong>ranges from RM 50,000 to RM 100,000<\/strong>.
