Criminals are getting better at creating believable scenarios to cheat victims of their hard-earned money.<\/p><p>Sometimes we read news of victims getting scammed and think\u00a0<em>\u201cthat would never be me,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0but that\u2019s just because we weren\u2019t the intended target. Sometimes they even\u00a0<strong>advertise their services online\u00a0<\/strong>and<strong>\u00a0use the EPF logo<\/strong>. Always double check if the source of your information is from the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kwsp.gov.my\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">government\u2019s official website<\/a>.<\/p><p>The scammers will ask for 30% to 60% of the withdrawal amount as commission. Loan sharks reach out to new clients through illegal ads pasted on pillars and buildings in urban areas.\" width=\"300\" height=\"186\" \/><\/p><p>Do not fall for loan offers that\u00a0<strong>do not care about your credit history<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>require upfront payment<\/strong>\u00a0such as \u201cprocessing fees,\u201d or\u00a0<strong>urge you to take immediate action<\/strong>.<\/p><p>After milking you off as many payments as they can, the scammers will\u00a0<strong>disappear without a trace with your hard-earned money.\u00a0<\/strong>Not only do you lose your money, you may also\u00a0<strong>leave a bad record on your credit history<\/strong>\u00a0as well.<\/p><p>Only ever\u00a0<strong>obtain loans from banks<\/strong>\u00a0or\u00a0<strong>licensed money lenders<\/strong>. Only low risk investment schemes such as fixed deposits guarantee returns, but never in\u00a0<strong>unrealistic amounts<\/strong>\u00a0such as\u00a0<em>10% per year<\/em>.<\/p><p>As much as we want to get rich quickly and easily, such promises are usually empty lies, it\u2019s better to hunker down and work hard. Better yet, we can\u00a0<strong>invest through legitimate medium<\/strong>\u00a0licensed under the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sc.com.my\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Securities Commission<\/a>.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><h3><b>Macau Scams<\/b><\/h3><p>This form of scam originated from\u00a0<em>Macau<\/em>, hence the name. The scammer\u00a0<strong>assumes an official role<\/strong>, such as that of a\u00a0<em>police officer<\/em>, a<em>\u00a0bank officer<\/em>, or a\u00a0<em>customs officer<\/em>\u00a0and would try to\u00a0<strong>convince you that your credit card information is compromised<\/strong>, or that you have to\u00a0<strong>pay a fee to get hold of a seized parcel<\/strong>.<\/p><p>Basically, the caller would try to\u00a0<strong>scare you into paying a sum<\/strong>\u00a0to secure your information, or avoid arrest.
